November 2006: New SPOS version (6) released

Meteo Consult is pleased to announce the successful release of version 6: SPOS on board weather and route planning software. SPOS was designed to display accurate weather forecasts on a computer screen. These standard weather forecasts with wind, waves, currents, hurricanes, ice edges, can be used for optimum route planning. With the standard file you can now also display the fronts on the computer screen.

In this version (6) it is also possible to subscribe to an extended forecast with more valuable and unique weather information. Meteo Consult added the following items to the SPOS weather forecast: 500 hPa, Precipitation, Air temperature, Seawater temperature, Visibility and Risk of Icing. Together with the extended forecast a port weather forecast is also included.

The major extension of the SPOS system is the integral coastal module, which displays local weather. This SPOS Coastal module is specially designed for Short Sea Shipping. A dedicated weather forecast for coastal areas will be send to the vessel.

Version (6) has already been released to all thousand vessels, who presently use SPOS at this very moment. The SPOS demonstration on this site shows more screenshots of the new system.
